For the Love of Reading

A heart felt invitation from library lovers….

Gadsden Middle School’s (GMS) Library staff is passionate about providing reading and learning materials, and equipment to facilitate students’ academic needs. We want to provide materials for their pleasure in reading and a place they can make remarkable discoveries. Books are building bridges to brighter futures for our children through free access to knowledge.  Economic times are threatening our ability to respond to the need to continually update and upgrade our collection.  We want to continue to grow with our students demands for current, relevant materials.  Wouldn’t you like to be a partner in  facilitating that passion?

A library provides students of all academic and socioeconomic status the tools to gather information, explore, travel, be creative and have fun through reading.  The goal of GMS is ensure we have the means to provide what students need and want. Monies from this Run-Walk will support our efforts to build a collection of books and add technology and equipment that students and staff will use to pursue excellence in education.

As funds for library materials diminished, we looked for a way to continue meeting the needs of our school. The idea of a Run was an easy decision.  Now the library staff invites you to participate in our first 5K run.  It will be a fun filled morning in conjunction with GMS’s campus program Elev8. Together we are promoting a “healthy body and mind” event on Saturday, February 6, 2010.  A health fair will be held to  provide free health screenings such as diabetes test and blood pressure checks.

With your participation, the GMS library will be positioned for continued growth and improvement.  The library is excited to provide an event for race enthusiasts to share their passion for education and developing a “healthy body and mind”.

                        Lovingly,
